FINDLAY, Ohio (April 30, 2026) – More than 700 volunteers will take time out of their busy workdays to provide over $103,000 in free labor to our community during United Way of Hancock County’s Spring Days of Caring.
Taking place May 4-8, this biannual service event matches employees of area corporations and small businesses with nonprofits and other service agencies to complete spring projects. In just five days, 712 local volunteers will be organized into 89 teams and dispatched to 78 projects throughout Hancock County. Work includes landscaping, painting, planting, cleaning, construction and more – anything that will save these agencies staff time and money that can instead be put toward their services.
United Way of Hancock County CEO Kelley McClurkin noted that a volunteer hour is currently valued at $36.14. With this spring’s Days of Caring volunteers set to complete about 2,832 service hours, that’s a powerful savings to the organizations benefiting from this work.
“Our Days of Caring volunteers are an incredible visualization of the power of caring,” McClurkin said. “As they complete their projects next week, they’ll get a sense of community and satisfaction, and they will walk away knowing that they have contributed to something significant. We thank them for their commitment to Hancock County.”
United Way of Hancock County will host a second opportunity to participate in Days of Caring in September. A separate registration for this three-day event will open later this year.
Volunteers United, United Way’s in-house volunteer center, placed over 10,000 volunteer hours in 2025. Visit liveunitedhancockcounty.org/volunteersunited for more information about Days of Caring or how you can get involved with other local volunteer efforts.
