Deepen your community service
Serving on a local board of directors or committee is a fulfilling leadership opportunity. Members learn more about our community while expanding their network and contributing to solutions that will immediately impact Hancock County and into the future.
United Way of Hancock County is lucky to be guided by a diverse, engaged board of directors and several active committees. We know firsthand the valuable insight that a group of qualified leaders can provide, and the diverse set of ideas and solutions that can be generated when they put their minds together.
If you are looking to deepen your support for local nonprofit organizations or civic groups, our Board and Committee Service program can help connect your specific knowledge and talents with meaningful local opportunities.
Match with us
Think of us as the match.com of board service. Interested candidates connect with us for an exploratory SHAPE conversation, where we discover your Skills, Heart, Abilities, Personality and Experiences.
From there, we’ll connect you with two to three local agencies that match your SHAPE — and provide a warm introduction if you so choose. We typically start with matches to United Way Partner Agencies, as they have been vetted for community impact, quality programming and financial responsibility, and branch out from there.
If there’s not a match for whatever reason, we’ll keep trying until we find a meaningful fit. Email United Way of Hancock County CEO Kelley McClurkin at kelley.mcclurkin@uwhc.org to get started.
