Kindness in Action
Family volunteering gives kids a chance to see kindness in action. It helps teach compassion, gratitude and the importance of showing up for others. It also gives families a shared experience that goes beyond busy schedules and everyday routines.
The best part is that giving back can look different for every family. You might collect food, make cards for someone who needs encouragement or lend a hand to an organization your family cares about.
When families choose a cause that matters to them, volunteering becomes more than checking something off a list. It becomes a memory. It becomes a lesson and a reminder that even small acts of service can make a big impact.
Student, Teen and Family Volunteering
We are committed to helping youth find volunteer opportunities that are meaningful and fun, because we know the energy and enthusiasm these volunteers bring to our community.
Whether you’re volunteering to fulfill service requirements for a club or organization, or because you simply want to meet new people and learn new skills, we’ve got you covered.
Our Ongoing Volunteer Opportunities page is updated regularly with an interesting variety of needs across Hancock County. Many entries here include the words “Youth Volunteers” or “Family Friendly,” indicating that they are a good match for teens or children who are accompanied by adults.
You can also register with Volunteers United and our Volunteer Coordinator will assist you in finding the best fit for your volunteering needs. Click the button below to register, or email volunteer@uwhancock.org with specific questions or concerns.
