FINDLAY, Ohio (Sept. 25, 2026) – Over just three days, local volunteer teams will dedicate nearly 700 coordinated service hours to local organizations.
United Way of Hancock County’s Fall Days of Caring returns Sept. 28-30 and in this time, 174 volunteers will complete 21 local service projects for nonprofit organizations and schools throughout Hancock County. These volunteers’ efforts will add up to 696 service hours, representing a value of $25,153 in savings to these organizations (based on Independent Sector's 2026 value of a volunteer hour of $36.14).
Volunteer teams are made up primarily of workplace groups whose employers have granted them staff time to complete their projects. Teams will work in four-hour shifts and complete projects ranging from fall cleanup and landscaping to organizing closets, cleaning wellness equipment, painting, sorting donations and even helping with an outdoor light show.
“We are extremely thankful not just to our volunteers for their big-hearted efforts, but to our corporate partners as well for so generously allowing time out of the workday to improve our community,” said United Way of Hancock County CEO Kelley McClurkin. “We are lucky to live and work among folks who care for each other and see the enormous value in giving back.”
Fall Days of Caring falls amid United Way of Hancock County’s Campaign season, during which the organization is working to raise $1.9 million for local distribution in 2027.
Days of Caring sponsors include City Apparel + Merch, Marathon Petroleum Corp., Freudenberg-NOK, Domino's and First National Bank.
In addition to next week’s activities, a five-day Days of Caring event was held in May. During that week, 712 volunteers dedicated 2,832 service hours to complete 78 projects.
