FINDLAY, Ohio (Aug. 17) — If you're a bourbon lover, you won't want to miss United Way of Hancock County's second annual Barrels & Bids fundraiser.

This high-impact evening sponsored by Whirlpool Corporation will feature bourbon and wine tastings, along with the opportunity to bid on a wide range of bourbon and bourbon-themed items. Highlights include a six-bottle collection of Wellers; a bottle of Maker's Mark Private Selection Playmaker Series by Eddie George; multiple vacation packages; exclusive Whirlpool appliances; and many more bourbon-related prizes. The event will also feature a special message from Hancock County’s own Micah Hyde, former NFL player and founder of the Imagine for Youth Foundation.

Barrels & Bids will be held from 6-9 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 17, at the Findlay Country Club. Tickets are $125 each or $800 for a table of eight, available via the United Way’s website, www.uwhancock.org, or by calling the office at 419-423-1432.

United Way of Hancock County CEO Kelley McClurkin noted that Barrels & Bids is largely being organized by local bourbon enthusiasts and will feature tastings and raffles for a variety of highly coveted and sought-after bourbons. Not only geared toward connoisseurs, the Western-themed event will appeal to anyone looking for an elegant night out for a good cause.

“Our inaugural Barrels & Bids event was a hugely successful evening, and we heard from so many people that they really enjoyed the opportunity to get dressed up and bid on some amazing prizes from our local retailers all the way up to national bourbon brands,” McClurkin said. “There will truly be something for everyone, and we are immensely thankful to Whirlpool Corporation for sponsoring this great evening.”

The Barrels & Bids fundraiser takes place amid United Way of Hancock County’s Campaign season, when the organization is working to raise $1.9 million in support of vital services for vulnerable children, individuals and families. United Way funding supports 20 programs run by 15 local partner agencies dedicated to championing family and children’s issues, ensuring food security, supporting safe housing, fostering financial stability and promoting safety and health.

All ticket sales from this event will go directly toward the United Way’s Campaign goal.
