Library discussion groups focus on CommunityREAD

FINDLAY, OH (March 6, 2022) - The Findlay-Hancock County Public Library is offering several adult programs next week in connection with CommunityREAD, a monthlong community event that encourages reading and promotes the benefits of literacy.

This year's featured book is "Yellow Wife" by Sadeqa Johnson.

Book discussion groups meeting will include Fiction Addiction at 2 p.m. Monday in the Lindamood Room; Bows & Blasters, 6 p.m. Wednesday in the Blanchard Room; and Gentle Reads, 2 p.m. Thursday in the Lindamood Room.

Separately, Kirsten Seele, a dietician from Northwest Ohio Orthopedics, will offer healthy eating tips at the "Let's Eat Right for Nutrition" program at 6 p.m. Wednesday in the Lindamood Room.

Activities for children and teens are also planned.

Teen take-and-make origami kits will be available at the teen desk Monday through March 27. There will also be kits at the Arlington branch and on the bookmobile.

Family storytime will be held at 6 p.m. Monday in the Lindamood Room. Participants will enjoy the same activities as the weekly storytime, just later in the day.

Regular storytimes will be offered at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday and Thursday in the Lindamood Room. Participants will hear stories, learn skills for future reading, and sing along with Miss Nicole. On Tuesday, Zoom Storytime follows at 10:30 a.m. This weekly program offers a live and interactive storytime experience for children.

Baby storytime will be held at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday and Friday in the Lindamood Room. Miss Nicole will lead participants in singing, rhyming, reading and having fun with scarves and bells.

On Thursday at 4 p.m. and 6 p.m., Miss Sarah will host Tween Night: Kindness Crafts in the Lindamood Room. Crafters will make spring cards and crafts to donate to local senior citizens through the United Way of Hancock County's Senior Cheer program. The program is designed for children in grades two through six.

Registration is required for all of the youth programs, and can be found online at findlaylibrary.org. For the Zoom storytime, participants will be sent a link to join after registration.
