Message from the UWHC Board

Dear neighbors and friends,

Our community thrives when caring people act and engage in meaningful ways to make a difference in the lives of our neighbors. Collectively we are stronger. Together we are better.

The United Way of Hancock County has a long history of providing the avenues for compassionate and holistic responses to measurably improve people’s lives. Whether it be a personal crisis or a worldwide pandemic, United Way’s ongoing role of assessing the needs of Hancock County residents, results in the gathering of vital resources for efficient and effective deployment where needed most. It’s because of our community’s ability to identify a reliable conduit for donation, and a resource for volunteer support, that United Way has responded quickly and well to the startling needs in our county as a result of the coronavirus pandemic and ensuing layoffs. Crisis relief donations combined with the knowledge of state and federal programs allowed us to empower local nonprofit agencies to stretch resources and helped hundreds of family’s access food and remain stably housed. These actions create stability among households and promote safety within the community.

We need you. United Way will continue to monitor emerging needs and ensure funds, whether through crisis relief efforts or our annual campaign, make the largest impact. However, we all have the capacity to give, model caring, and look out for one another. We are a generous community with a strong foundation of meeting the challenges we face. We invite you to join our efforts. Visit our website to learn how you can give, advocate and volunteer for a strong and vibrant community.

We need you more than ever.  Please stand united with us.

Sincerely,

The United Way of Hancock County Board
