Rustic Selected as United Way Distinguished Volunteer

United Way of Hancock County has announced that Jeanne Rustic has been selected to receive this year’s Jeri Bjorling Memorial Distinguished Volunteer Award.

Rustic was selected because of her many volunteer positions in the community. She has served as; co-chair for the Arts Festival, a facilitator for the Mayor’s teen advisory committee, co-advisor for ECLIPSe and a member of the planning committee and chair for the Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership Training seminars. She has served on the Convention and Visitors Bureau as chair and a member. She has served on The University of Findlay’s (UF) Curtain Raisers Society, filling the positions of secretary and vice chairperson. She has been involved with Rotaract, chaperoning international trips and helping with their speed leaders events. She has volunteered for many organizations including: Harmony House, Salvation Army, Court Appointed Special Advocates/Guardian ad Litem and the Agency on Aging. She has been a volunteer with the Flag City Balloon Fest for 10 years. Other volunteer work includes serving as a board member for the Findlay Youth Orchestra and serving on the UF Oilers Club advisory board. She is currently a board member for Cancer Patient Services, a volunteer on the United Way of Hancock County strategic planning committee and is an usher and Eucharistic minister for the St. Michael parish.

She received her Bachelor’s degree in communication from Findlay College (now, UF). She also attended Ohio University and the University of New York.

She is a past recipient of the Kiwanis of the Year award and was a Kiwanis member for 10 years, serving in many committee chair positions.

“Jeanne’s expertise in nonprofits has been shared through her church, education, philanthropic groups, nonprofits, and youth. Always a go-to person, she is a mentor. She has a way of inspiring people to take action that will make any situation better. What more could a community ask?” said, Beverly Phillips, community services director at United Way of Hancock County.

Rustic will be honored at the upcoming United Way of Hancock County annual meeting on Thursday, April 10 at 6:30 p.m. at the Findlay Country Club.
