United Way of Hancock County has received a challenge grant from Don and Carrie Templin. The grant is for $35,000 each year for the next five years and will be put toward the United Way’s Halt Hunger Initiative. The challenge grant will assist United Way of Hancock County to raise more funds toward the goal of alleviating hunger in Hancock County.
The mission of the Halt Hunger Initiative is to mobilize the community to research, identify, implement, and promote long-term sustainable solutions to the problem of hunger in Hancock County. United Way of Hancock County started the Halt Hunger Initiative in October of 2011.
In 2011, United Way of Hancock County committed to providing $1 million over five years to eradicate hunger in Hancock County. Additional fundraising and grant seeking efforts are continually being made to support the initiative.
